VRDC organizers are excited to welcome the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s own Nathaniel Guy to VRDC Fall 2017, where he’ll be delivering a fascinating talk on “Mixed Reality for Space Exploration.”

Using MR/VR applications, the scientists and engineers at NASA JPL can plan activities for the Mars Curiosity rover and analyze Martian geology while walking on a 3D reconstruction of the Martian surface. Guy’s session will present recent projects that leverage immersive technology to tackle unique visualization and interaction challenges, and discuss research that shows the beneficial effects of using MR to accomplish these tasks.

Get expert guidance on building for VR and AR at VRDC Fall 2017!

If you work in VR/AR/MR or are thinking about making the leap, Virtual Reality Developers Conference organizers want you to know about two great sessions at VRDC Fall 2017, which takes place September 21-22 at a bigger, better venue in San Francisco!

First off we’re proud to welcome Harvey Ball, a longtime developer who will be delivering a fantastic talk on “VRTK and How to Make Developing For VR Easier” during the show.

Ball is a developer on VRTK, the VR toolkit for Unity 3D, and he plans to showcase all of the features that VRTK offers developers and how they can be extended and customized for building new VR experiences.

This is a big deal because VRTK has evolved over the last year from a few simple scripts into a fully fledged VR development community that provides a base for existing and new developers to put their ideas into virtual reality. Many lessons have been learned along the way, and attendees will understand how easy it can be for anyone to start developing in VR (via VRTK) and share insights into the VR community to help with the learning curve.

Good news, VR enthusiasts: Virtual Reality Developers Conference organizers have a pair of great sessions in store for you at VRDC Fall 2017, which takes place September 21-22 at a bigger, better venue in San Francisco!

Organizers are proud to host Aldis Sipolins, head of VR and game design at IBM Research, as he presents a VRDC Fall 2017 talk on “Why Virtual Reality and Machine Learning are Good for Science.”

Check out this talk to get your first look at cutting-edge research using machine learning to enhance memory in VR. Subjects play a color memory game while sensors (brain activity, eye-tracking, heartrate) record data, and personalized machine learning models use this sensor data to predict memory. A follow-up study seeks to enhance memory in real-time and uncover the neural signature of presence.
