Apple says the next generation of iDevices have been custom tuned for AR, with cameras, gyroscopes, and accelerometers created to handle motion tracking, even in low-light.

I Expect You To Die has pulled in $1M in revenue across 3 VR platforms

Schell Games’ escape-the-room virtual reality title I Expect You To Die has now brought in over $1 million in revenue, just eight months after its initial launch in December 2016.

While I Expect You To Die got its start on Oculus Rift and, soon after, PlayStation VR, the $1 million milestone includes revenue gained from both its early platforms and its more recent HTC Vive launch.

Google launches ARCore augmented reality SDK

Google has launched a new devkit called ARCore to help budding creators start making augmented reality experiences of their own.

In a nutshell, ARCore is a platform for building augmented reality apps on Android. It uses three key technologies to integrate virtual content with the real world — as seen though your smartphone camera.

Sony drops PlayStation VR bundle price

Sony announced in a blog post that the existing PlayStation VR Worlds bundle, which includes the PSVR headset, PS Camera, two PlayStation Move motion controllers and PlayStation VR Worlds, will retail for $449.00 starting September 1st — a $50 price drop.

HTC Vive gets hefty $200 price cut

 

HTC has cut the price of its Vive virtual reality headset to $599 from $799, meaning those still eager to buy the device can now save a cool $200.

As reported by Polygon, the discounted package comes with the headset, two motion controllers, and two wall-mounted sensors that are used to deliver “room-scale” virtual reality.

Samsung Gear VR app Relumino aids the visually impaired

Relumino is a visual aid app available to Samsung Gear VR users with low vision. Working in conjunction with the rear camera on Samsung Galaxy smart phones, the VR application takes images captured and makes them visually-impaired friendly.

The app features different modes to cater to the needs of the user. Regular mode works by making the environment clear instead of blurry, while Color Invert mode displays text in high contrast so that reading is easier.

Big Immersive has formally announced its arrival to the games industry, and spelled out its desire to become a dedicated VR and AR publisher.

The company was established in November 2016, and has already published three titles: Agelore’s FantasyCity Traffic Control VR, and Love Cubed VR. Despite being active for almost a year, the firm had been flying under the radar until now.
