- “Creating ‘Heads-Up’ Narratives in AR: Lessons Learned” presented by Rob Morgan (Creative Director, Playlines) and Dustin Freeman (Technical Director, Playlines)
This talk will outline some best practices for the location-based AR narrative field covering device optimization, pipeline planning, design, user engagement, and logistics. Dustin and Rob will demonstrate how narrative and gameplay can re-contextualize the user’s environment to create immersion (without requiring expensive graphics), and show the potential for growth in AR experiences that are fully integrated into cities, venues or conferences.

This session will showcase the VR filmmaking breakthroughs behind the ‘NBA VR’ app, created by Digital Domain in partnership with NBA and Google for Daydream. Attendees will learn the breakthrough immersive film making techniques used in developing the ‘NBA VR’ app virtual reality experience, including set reconstruction, stereoscopic movie atlases and proprietary camera systems.
